5 Reasons You Need a Rocket Coffee Machine

July 20, 2017 0 Comments

Here at Cliff & Pebble, we have the pleasure of speaking coffee with tons of people on a daily basis about rocket coffee machines, Quick Mill, La Spaziale & other brands. We love it. We thrive on going through the ins-and-outs of our products with interested consumers & the most common question asked has to be “is the coffee they make really that different than say, a $99 machine you can buy on Amazon?” And “are they really worth it?”

The answer? Yes, absolutely but for more than just the coffee they make.

It’s an incredibly valid question, too. Given the fact that our average product costs $1,400, people really want to know whether or not these things are actually worth the hefty price tags. Here are our top 5 reasons to invest in a rocket coffee machine:

1. The Compliments

Most of our customers always come back to us after receiving their machine either via email or social media and send us photos of their new gear. In their correspondence, about 95% of them say something along the lines of “I can’t tell you how many people have asked about it” or “it’s now the highlight of my kitchen!”

This doesn’t surprise us.

Rocket coffee machines are absolutely stunning. Draped in the highest quality stainless steel, they’ll make any kitchen instantly better simply by being there. Endless compliments are almost a guarantee. Compared to other brands, like La Spaziale, Rocket’s stand out like a beacon of coffee greatness with their reflective panels opposed to plastic siding. Cheaper machines, like what you can get on Amazon, may cost you less but they’ll look like the Chinese-made piece of junk they are.

2. They make proper espresso

This, in our opinion, is the #1 reason to invest in a rocket coffee machine – or any Italian brand for that manner. Machines like Nespresso, Mr. Coffee and even swiss-made Jura, contrary to what they market, don’t make espresso. What they’re actually making is really really hot coffee – a big difference. Simply put, the aforementioned brands don’t produce the necessary heat required to make espresso.

Compare a shot of “espresso” from a Nespresso machine next to a Rocket and the difference in taste will stun you. A Rocket will instantly take you back to your favorite vacation in Italy (assuming you’ve been on one. If you haven’t and love coffee – stop what you’re doing right now and plan a trip & thank us later) whereas a Nespresso will leave you with a very bitter coffee, not espresso. Nespresso actually doesn’t taste all that bad - it just isn’t real espresso.

3. Long-run money saver

That’s right – a rocket coffee machine can actually save you money in the long run. This one is tough for most to grasp and understandably so. I mean, a Rocket will cost you a minimum of $1,550 (Rocket Espresso Appartamento) and that doesn’t even include the accessories you’ll eventually need or a quality grinder. However, when you start to think about how often you buy coffee, whether it be from Starbucks, Peets or your local coffee shop, the amount you spend on an annual basis might scare you.

Starbucks, while incredibly convenient & easy, charges you a crazy amount of money for burnt garbage. Sure, they’ll make it taste like heaven by loading it up with some whipped cream, sugar & syrups. They’ll then charge you $5 for it. Do that every day and you’ll end up spending thousands on an annual basis!

And why? For that green straw?

A rocket coffee machine may cost you a bit up front but in the long-run, you’ll be saving money in the form of decreased Starbucks visits. You’ll be drinking much better coffee too!

5. An art form impossible to master

One of the greatest things about a rocket coffee machine is the fact that it’s a constant learning process. There are so many variables and changing parts that need to be perfect in order to create the perfect cup of espresso. That’s why no espresso tastes the exact same as the next.

Tamping pressure, dose, grind, beans, pressure, etc. There are so many aspects that go into making espresso that make it a never ending process that’s impossible to perfect. There’s something about waking up every morning, getting excited to flip the switch on and start the process instead of paying $5 for it at Starbucks. A real sense of accomplishment will come over you when you see your espresso being extracted from the machine. You did that, not some hipster barista.
