Usually when coffee comes out at a party its at the tail end. When everyone is calming down, sobering up or finishing their meals. Me personally? I love having an espresso after dinner. There's just a certain sense of sophistication that comes over me. 

But coffee doesn't always have to be a sobering tool. There are plenty of tasty coffee drinks that contain alcohol. Here are our favorites! 

Café Parisian

Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz. brandy
  • 1/2 oz. Grand Marnier
  • One shot espresso
  • 2 oz. hot water
  • Whipped Cream
  • Grated orange zest, for garnish

Creation

  • In a tall, 6 oz. glass combine the brandy and grand marnier. 
  • Brew your shots of espresso
  • Add espresso to glass
  • Add hot water
  • Top with whipped cream
  • Garnish with orange zest
  • Serve immediately

Irish Espresso

Ingredients

  • 1/2 oz. irish whisky
  • 1/2 oz. Bailey's irish cream
  • One shot espresso
  • 2 oz. hot water
  • 1 tbs. sugar
  • Whipped cream

Creation

  • Combine irish whisky and Bailey's.
  • Brew your shot of espresso
  • Add espresso to glass
  • Add hot water
  • Add sugar and stir
  • Top with whipped cream
  • Serve immediately 

how to make an irish coffee

Velvet Hammer

Ingredients

  • 1 oz. vodka
  • 1 oz. créme de cacao
  • 2 shots espresso
  • 6 oz. half-and-half
  • 1/2 cup crushed ice
  • Sugar (optional)

Creation

  • Using a cocktail shaker, combine the vodka, créme de cacao, espresso and milk.
  • Then, add ice and shake well.
  • Strain into your choice of glass
  • Optional - add sugar
  • Enjoy!
