September 21, 2016 0 Comments

Creating your own cappuccino at home is great. You're free to add anything you want and experiment in any way. What differentiates a cappuccino from a latte is the milk. Cappuccinos contain more foam on top. Here's your step-by-step guide to creating the perfect cappuccino in the comfort of your own kitchen:

What You'll Need

  • A good espresso machine - We like the Rocket Giotto
  • A good coffee grinder - We like the Mazzer Super Jolly
  • Fresh coffee beans
  • Milk steaming pitcher
  • Milk (whole milk is best)

Step-by-Step Guide

  • Grind your coffee beans - the finer the better
  • Tamp - apply 30 pounds of pressure
  • Pour your espresso shots
  • Fill your milk steaming pitcher half way
  • Insert your steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Aerate for 10 seconds or until the desired amount of foam is produced
  • Submerge the steam wand further ands steam until 150 degrees is reached or you can't touch the pitcher anymore
  • Tap the pitcher to destroy any excess bubbles
  • Add your foamed milk to the center of the espresso.
  • Top with foam
  • Enjoy!
