Iced tea makers seemed to have been stuck in the dark ages for quite some time now. However, recently iced tea maker manufacturers have stepped up their game and given us more options and control over the iced tea brewing process. We spent a weekend trying out all the top options on the market today. We developed a pretty nice caffeine buzz and an appreciation for higher quality iced tea makers.
Our main buying factors included price, size and amount of control over the brewing process. For most tea makers you control the brew strength by the amount of water or tea you start with. Some ice tea makers like the one offered by West Bend have advanced brew strength control that allows you to dial in the brew strength even more.
If you are looking to impress your friends with a high tech brewing device this would be our top choice. While it uses the same brewing method as the others on our list the patented flash chill technology allows you to chill your tea in just 30 seconds. Then the vacuum seal keeps in the fresh taste and retains the temperature for longer periods of time.
The Nostalgia CI3BK is a great option for those that like to flavor their teas. Their tea infuser is one of the best we tested. You can easily add flavors with this machine. We also liked the ease of cleaning and the reusable filter basket. The filter worked great even with loose leaf teas which is a nice added bonus.
Mr. Coffee is by far the most popular iced tea maker on the market and for good reason. The Mr. Coffee Iced tea maker makes 3-quarts of iced tea in just ten minutes and includes automatic shut off and cleaning features. The combination of speed and ease of use makes this our top choice for most buyers.
The West Bend IT500 was a pleasant surprise. We enjoyed experimenting with the brew strength control system. Once we dialed in the exact strength we could replicate the exact flavor each time which can be tricky with other tea makers as you have to be precise with your water measurements and amount of tea. However, this iced tea maker does have a lot of moving parts that made clean up a bit more tedious than the others we tested. Overall is still a great choice especially if you enjoy experimenting with different flavor profiles.
Capresso is widely known for making high quality coffee and tea brewing machines and this iced tea maker is no different. The built in glass carafe adds a bit of elegance and convenience. The removeable filter and water tank make this unit extremely easy to clean and maintain brew after brew. This iced tea maker would have ranked higher but there seemed to be some electrical issues as the unit would sometimes turn off during the brewing process without notice. This may have just been our unit but it is certainly worth noting.
Any of the iced tea makers above would be a great addition to your brewing arsenal. The best part about this list is the variety of options out there to meet your needs and the prices are all more than fair with all options being under $60 as of the writing of this article.
