April 1, 2020
To our loyal customers,
As many countries are going into lockdown, I first want to hope that you and your loved ones are safe and healthy.
As the global effect of coronavirus (COVID-19) continues to evolve and worsen, I've made the decision to commit 10% of all proceeds to Direct Relief during the month of April. This crisis has effected the coffee community worldwide as cafés, roasters, retailers, and others in the specialty coffee world have been forced to cease operations. As a company that focuses primarily on e-commerce, we've seen a spike in website traffic that can only be attributed to the fact that everyone is working from home and unable to go out and support their local cafés. Because of this, we feel it's our duty to give back any way we can.
Direct Relief is a humanitarian aid organization, active in all 50 states and more than 80 countries, with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies - without regard to politics, religion, or ability to pay. They are coordinating with public health authorities, nonprofit organizations and businesses in the U.S., China, and globally to provide protective equipment and essential medical items to health workers responding to the coronavirus (COVID-19).
In the U.S., Direct Relief is delivering protective masks, along with exam gloves and isolation gowns, to health care organizations in areas with confirmed COVID-19 cases.
I am inspired as I see the communities around the world coming together to fight this pandemic. We are dedicated to supporting the fight the best we can. Please stay safe at home, consider signing up for a coffee subscription from your favorite roaster, and keep drinking coffee! Want a roaster recommendation? Give me a call!
