Is the Lelit Bianca V3 the machine for me?
The new & improved V3 is one of the most popular dual boilers on the marketplace. But, it may be considered too much machine for many. Dual boilers typically are if consumers are being honest with themselves.
Dual boilers like the V3 really shine are in the consistency arena. If you'll find yourself making drink-after-drink back-to-back on a consistent basis, this is where you'll really find the benefits of a dual boiler.
Compared to a heat exchanger, dual boilers virtually have zero recoup time in between making drinks. A heat exchanger needs a small amount of time to rebuild pressure as they typically only have a single boiler responsible for building pressure for both brewing espresso shots and steaming milk.
Dual boilers have just that - dual boilers. They work completely independently of one another. One boiler is dedicated solely to steaming milk while the other brewing espresso. This leads to much higher levels of consistency and thermal stability.
But, if you're someone who will be making one or two drinks a day, our honest opinion is a dual boiler may be too much machine. Save yourself some money and invest those savings in a better grinder.
How long does the Lelit Bianca V3 take to heat up?
About 25 minutes and no, it does not have software installed to put it on a schedule.
You can, however, combat this by purchasing a Wi-Fi timer (~$25) to place it on any desired schedule and control it from anywhere via a smartphone app.
What kind of pump does the Bianca have?
A commercial-grade rotary pump.
Benefits of rotary pumps when compared to vibratory pumps include:
- More consistent
- Quieter operation
- Plumb-in ability
- Faster heat-up times
- Longevity
What is flow control?
The Bianca V3 is one of the only machines on the market that comes with flow control standard. This system is usually an up charge of at least $250.
Flow control allows the user to manipulate the flow rate of water as it moves from the boiler to the group head of the espresso machines.
What this does is allows you to really experiment with different settings to customize your espresso shots on-the-fly to your exact taste preferences.
Flow control is manually operated by the user via the paddle located just above the group head.
